Dumpster Specifications
Q. Will my dumpster have a door that swings open?
A. Yes, your dumpster will have a hinged door that will swing open from left to right. The door of the dumpster sits at the back end of the truck.
Q. Does the dumpster have a cover or lid?
Q. No, our roll-off dumpster rentals do not include any type of cover or lid. We highly recommend using a tarp secured with bungee cords to cover the dumpster to help keep out unnecessary weight from precipitation and unwanted debris from nearby residents. Dumpster should be free of covering when pickup has been scheduled.
Materials – Weight, Extra Costs and Prohibited Items
Q. How is the weight of my debris determined?
The truck drives onto a scale at the disposal facility where an initial weight is recorded (gross weight). The truck then empties the contents of the dumpster. Next, the truck drives onto a second scale that records the weight of the truck and the empty dumpster (tare weight). The difference between the first and second weights (gross – tare) is the weight of the debris in the dumpster. The scales are regulated by state bureaus of weights and measures.
Q. What materials may incur extra costs?
A. Mattresses, large/bulky electronic waste items, tires, and items containing freon may incur a per-item fee at the disposal facility. Any per-item fee(s) will be passed on to the customer.
Q. What materials are prohibited?
A. All hazardous waste.
Q. How full can I fill the dumpster?
A. All items should be either level or below the top of the dumpster. Plywood can come loose during travel and cause a potential accident. We reserve the right to have customer offload a dumpster if it is above the safety level. Additional requirements may apply based upon locality. Liability for appropriate waste remains with the customer. We welcome your call 770-924-0294 or email emily@northmetrowaste.com with any specific questions or concerns.
Pricing
Q. What does the price include?
A. The price of a dumpster rental includes a one-time delivery and removal for the selected roll off dumpster, a disposal weight allowance, and a stated rental period. All waste will be disposed of in a fully approved and licensed disposal facility.
Q. How many tons can I put in my roll off dumpster?
A. Certain materials such as concrete, dirt, brick, drywall, roofing shingles, tree trunks, etc. can be very heavy. Before placing any heavy materials in your roll off dumpster, please review the applicable additional weight charges per the terms and conditions of your agreement and contact us at 770-924-0294 for guidance. Under no conditions should a roll off dumpster be loaded above the fill line, even with light material.
Q. Will I be billed for extra weight?
A. Yes, if the weight of the materials in your dumpster exceeds the included weight quoted in your order confirmation, you will be charged for the additional weight at the specified tonnage rate. We are charged by weight at the disposal facility, and we pass along this charge accordingly. Concrete and C&D are priced differently. Please contact us at 770-924-0294 for guidance.
Property Considerations
Q. Will the dumpster cause driveway damage?
A. There is a possibility of damage caused by the weight of the dumpster and the contents placed in the dumpster. We recommend our 14-yard or 20-yard dumpster brought in on our small truck. If your driveway is thin or old, there is a possibility that it will crack.
Prevent Scratching
If you have concerns, we recommend that you leave plywood where the dumpster would be placed. The wood will prevent the dumpster from scratching the driveway. Please take the proper precautions to protect your driveway!
Q. Do I need a dumpster permit?
A. Dumpster permits are typically only required when placing a dumpster on public property such as a street, easement, or sidewalk.
Please contact your local township office or public works department to determine exact permit requirements for your specific situation. Permit requirements can vary within the same town based on placement specifics!
Q. Can I put the roll off dumpster on the street?
A. Please check with your local municipality. Permits are often required for dumpsters to be placed on public streets.
Q. How large of a space do I need for delivery of the roll off dumpster?
A. It is recommended to allow 4’ of clearance on all sides of the dumpster to assure adequate clearance. You will need an 8' wide by 22' long space just for the dumpster to sit. Any vehicles that will be in the way of the dumpster that must be driven during the time of the rental should be removed prior to delivery.

Q. What if I schedule service but it turns out I am not ready upon the driver’s arrival?
A.
